In 2006 URS started the Clyde Martin Memorial Golf Tournament benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Central Texas. We continue to be the primary sponsor for this tournament, which has benefited MDA in excess of $100,000 over the last five years. We are major sponsors of MDA of North and Central Texas and of the ALSA – North Texas and were instrumental in starting the "Day at the Ballpark" for ALS clients and families to attend a Texas Rangers baseball game every year. We serve as a board member for Children with Special Needs Network, which provides benefits and support for children with special needs. Several of our employees are very active in Camp John Marc and Greene Family Camp summer camps for children with special needs and donate their time every summer to serve as counselors at these camps. We are active supporters and participants in MDA’s "Stride and Ride" and ALS’s "Walk to Defeat ALS". We are strong supporters of "Joni & Friends" which donates and distributes rehab equipment to individuals with special needs in 3rd world countries through various churches and the "Wounded Warrior Project". In 2009, we delivered and fitted patients and families in Matamoros, Mexico. We are proactive in legislative issues affecting the accessibility of quality rehabilitation equipment and services for our clients and have made several trips to Washington, DC to visit with Congressmen and Senators to promote accessibility for our clients. |
